Twenty-five copies of this dismal compilation cassette were dubbed during the summer of 2001 and were freely given to any person bold/foolish enough to ask for a copy. Five more copies were later dubbed sans artwork for some reason. All in all, a steaming pile o’ shit that is thankfully no longer being produced—the superior cuts from this cassette were remixed, as it were, and collected on the Songs of Freedom & Joy CD along with a number of better tracks .

- The Sinner Kids Underpop Association: “The Hangman’s Come on” [Ugh... Heed the hangman’s come on and hang it up, Kids—ed.]

The Slippery Slope is a shitty little book that contains one short story, two plays and a heck of a lot of typos. The Slope says roughly the same thing in one hundred and sixty pages that Jonathan Richman said in less than five minutes in his Modern Lovers’ classic “She Cracked.” The writing in this book is crummy and rather puerile to boot—avoid The Slippery Slope at all costs. Seriously, do not buy this book! Donating six dollars to NAMBLA would almost be a better use of your cash than purchasing this piece of shit! One thousand copies of The Slippery Slope were printed in August of 2002, many of which were destroyed three years later by flooding caused by Hurricane Katrina, thus proving that Hurricane Katrina wasn’t all bad after all.

California Frown
Tonight I Testify, Tomorrow I Slink Away and Die
ARCDR000.............................$18.99
The first full-length album from Bay Area cult favorites California Frown has become an Also-Ran classic and easily one of the most-requested releases in the catalog. Precise agitation and unbridled chaos mount from the first notes to take you schlepping through the backwaters of rock. Stubborn bass lines, brash guitar squawkage, catastrophic drumming and impertinent singing about insects and fear are all combined into a single calming salve for your sticky wounds (yeah, right). Not to be experienced without a reaction. |

Rocket from the Sarcophagus
Baby, Please Silence These Voices in My Head, Baby
ARCDR0005............................$18.99
San Diego’s idea of music as ultra-violence, Rocket’s fierce bastardization of old-school rhythm and blues into experimental punk deconstruction makes for some of the more unpredictable albums and performances of the alt-rock decade. |

The Thin Man and His All-Insect Orchestra
H.M.S. Yahoo
ARCDR003.............................$18.99
The final unreleased studio album from the Bay Area’s dirgiest dredgers is available for the first time on lovingly crafted CD-Recordable. The least prog of Oakland’s 1990s rockers attempt—from an indeterminate point in the past—to drain the blood from your face through questionable means. Blues so white they will whiten your teeth, whiten your face...you will be SO pale. |
